On Tuesday September 8th, Rick's Steaks will proudly host 6 lovely young ladies traveling all the way to the U.S. from Italy while they are being followed by a film crew for an Italian T.V. adventure show called DonnAvventura. They will make a brief stop in Philadelphia, visiting "Rick's" Downstairs at the Bellevue on September 8th at 2:00 p.m. where they will learn how to prepare the authentic Philly cheesesteak, instructed by the grandson of the inventor, Rick Olivieri. The girls will then move on to some other hot spots in the U.S., seeing the sights and recording their trip for TV, radio, youtube, and magazines like Cosmo, STAR, and Men's Health.

"Catch" the GIECO Gecko...at Rick's Steaks!

The Philadelphia ZOO is playing host to the traveling GIECO Gecko exhibit through August 21st.

The GEICO "spokes-reptile" will be traveling in and around Philly every Wednesday on his "lunch break". If you "catch" the GEICO Gecko by taking a picture of him (or with him!) while lunching at great places in Philadelphia, you could win free ZOO passes. (visit philadelphiazoo.org for details) The Gecko's itinerary is top secret.... so keep your eyes open and get that camera ready!

The Bellevue Food Court is hosting it's 4th annual Sandwich Make-Off this week! Public tasting and voting is today, July 20th, from 11 am - 2:00 pm, with celebrity judging on Wednesday the 22nd from noon until 1:00 pm. Local meteorologists Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz (CH 10), John Bolaris (Fox 29) and Cathy Orr (CBS 3) will decide the winner this year. Join us today for a free sample of our specialty sandwich , the "Rick-ter", created just for this event. All proceeds will benefit PhilAbundance, so please come out and support this great cause! Canned food donations will also be accepted, so bring a can or two to help those in need.

We were asked earlier today to appear on "The 10! Show" with Bill Henley and Lori Wilson tomorrow morning, Wednesday- July 15th, (at 11:00 am on nbc) to cook up our cheesesteaks alongside author of "The Great Philly Cheesesteak Book" Carolyn Wyman. Some will recall that Carolyn did a book signing at the Grand Opening of our new store "Downstairs at the Bellevue" just a few weeks ago. We will be be preparing our traditional cheesesteak sandwiches, as well as the very popular vegan option we serve made with seitan. We hope you will catch us LIVE on air tomorrow, but we will also try to post the video on the website within a few days.

Meet Carolyn Wyman, the author of "The Great Philly Cheesesteak Book." She will be available to sign copies of her new book, (Rick's Steaks is featured on pages 102-104) and to discuss her upcoming cheesesteak bike tour!

Performance by rocker- Kenn Kweder. Kenn is a Philly original and a local favorite. He puts on a great show!

FRIDAY:
11:30am
We kick start Friday's celebration with a ceremonial "hot pepper ribbon" cutting. Officiates include a dozen of the top chefs and GM's from the city's best prime beef restaurants. They will be accompanied by local officials, and many of Philadelphia's media celebrities, who will don aprons, and get behind the grill to cook for opening day customers.

12:00-1:30pm
Crooners "Frankie and the Fashions" will take us on a trip down memory lane with their A Cappella favorites.

In addition to our Grand Opening specials (click here) we will give away "Rick's" t-shirts to the first 100 guests each day of the celebration, and we will also have drawings at 3:00pm each day for some of the "hottest" tickets in town!

A portion of the "Opening Day" proceeds will go to the Philadelphia Hero Scholarship Fund, benefitting the families of fallen officers.

After 7 long months, and a few setbacks, we are firing up the grill at the new Rick's Steaks-Downstairs at the Bellevue!

Come join us on Monday, June 15th, and sample items from our new expanded menu! Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. and includes Philly favorites like Pepper-n-Egg and Steak-n-Egg sandwiches. Our Lunch Menu features our new sandwich--The "Phila-BUSTER" and non alcoholic beer.
The entire "Rick's Steaks" crew is back, and we are looking forward to seeing all the old familiar faces, and getting to know our new neighbors here on Broad Street.

OUR GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION will be on Thursday, June 25th and Friday June 26th. Everyone is invited! Come see our beautiful new store and enjoy live music from Philly's own "Rock Star" Ken Kweder, celebrities and more! Come taste the sandwich made famous by my grandfather, Pat Olivieri, over 75 years ago. The Family Tradition lives on!

Rumor has it that the award winning Dr. Mehmet Oz, (best known for his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey show) was spotted at the Reading Terminal Market a few weeks ago. I was OFF that day, but I was told that he stopped by Rick's to have a real Philly cheesesteak.

Well...this is our 3rd season at Citizen's Bank Park (CBP), and I must say the Phils are off to a great start!

The fans are really coming out to support the team, and they are eating lots of cheesesteaks, so let me say "thanks" to all of you for making Rick's Steaks - CBP a "home run" at CBP!

The new addition to our menu this season is our Vegan CHICKEN cheesesteak. Just like the vegan "beef" cheesesteak introduced last year, our newest vegan sandwich, made with Seitan, is a hit! We are happy to be able to offer our customers this non-meat version of a true Philly classic.
